Jasmin Jones originally trained in fine art at the National Art School (Sydney N.S.W), and went on to do further studies in fine jewellery at the Claremont School of Art W.A. The following years saw Jasmin work in her own jewellery label and today she is still a practising fine jeweller and designer/maker

At the beginning of 2014, after many requests from friends, Jasmin started to teach crochet and run workshops, during this time she developed a series of skill based courses which she continues to teach.

Crochet has lead Jasmin on a myriad of journeys including large scale charity projects such as Viva Vittoria in Brescia Italy in 2015 (an anti-violence against women project), to working with crochet collectives and yarn companies internationally.

Jasmin’s crochet works have been exhibited internationally at Spin Expo, Shanghai, 2017, Spin Expo Shanghai, Paris and New York 2018, and Spin Expo, Shanghai and H&H Cologne, Germany 2019. Her patterns have also featured in Indie Road magazine.

In her own words “there’s two areas of crochet that deeply motivate me, first is community work such as charity projects and craft activism. I love uniting with others be that at a local community level or globally sharing a common goal. Secondly is seeing crochet elevated and utilised in the areas of fine art, couture and high fashion, or in some other unconventional application.”

Jasmin is a founding member of the Crochet Guild of Australia and is deeply committed to preserving artisanal hand skills and the slow fashion movement, she possesses a keen interest in cultural and historical needle craft,  continues to teach crochet and work as a designer/maker across multiple mediums.
